3 idiots Reflection

As life goes on, things get more complicated. We are no longer a child, but an adult who faces reality. Real life is nothing like fairy tales. Problems are not being easily solved and confusions are everywhere. Life is not only black and white but, is different shades of grey. And here comes, the college life. College life is never that easy because it’s our chapter in life where we should strive and focus on our studies because it would be the starting line for our future.  It would lead us to a direction where we will be able to fulfill our dreams in life from the very start.

The movie “3 Idiots”, simply portrays our lives in college. It may be hard to survive every hurdle that may come our way but what is important, is that we remained strong in order to achieve our goals in life as the saying goes, “No pain, No gain”. We will never gain or have the things that we always wanted to achieve if we did not invest on it and do everything that we can in order to have it.

The movie is led by the three characters, Rancchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad, Raju Rastogi and Farhan Qureshi. Each one of them has their own characteristics and dreams in life and they have distinct talents and skills in which it helps them to achieve what they have become in the future.

I shall start with Farhan Qureshi who belong to the middle class family and is the only child. From the day he was born, his father proclaimed that he would be an engineer someday but as he entered college, it was never his dream. It was his father’s dream for him and out of love and respect, he followed what his father wanted for him even though it is not what he wanted just to please and make his father happy. His dream is to become a professional wildlife photographer because he had this passion in photography and he also loves animals and it was projected on the movie his photographs on animals. Even though he pursued engineering and become an engineering student in a very well-known, famous university in India which is Imperial College of Engineering, the top 1 Engineering University, his love for photography is still in him. He became friends with Ranchhoddas “Rancho” Shamaldas Chanchad and Raju Rastogi. Farhan together with Raju are both average students from modest backgrounds, unlike Rancho who came from a rich family, and every examination results, they are consistent on being on the last rank and always on the last row during class pictorials. He still studies his lessons well but still can’t make it to the top and I understand what he is going through because for me, you cannot give what you don’t have. Even if I have all the perseverance that I need to be on top but if my heart is not in it, it is still useless. I would not be happy because following our hearts would make us happier. I understand that he needed to do all of these things just to make his parent’s proud especially his father considering that he had given him all the privileges just to make him feel comfortable in his studies like buying an air conditioner and put it on Farhan’s room just to make it comfortable for him to study his lessons well. Everything that they can offer they will give it to his son just to make it comfortable and easier for him to study. In our society today, a lot of people are like Farhan Qureshi. They are forced by their parents to pursue their wanted course. During my fourth year in high school, every one of us has a great ambition in life and we always talked about our desired course to be taken in college. But when the time that we had graduated and preparing to enter in college, some of the desired course of my classmates did not come true because they follow the wanted course of their parents. Farhan said in the movie that he pursue and studied engineering because of his love to his parents, who spared all the efforts to help him do his best in the entrance exam into the Imperial College of Engineering with a hope to have a brighter future. Sometimes in our life, we do the right things, we pursue our parent’s dreams and we always follow them because of our love to them. Sometimes also we pursue their dreams because we all know that they want us to have a brighter future and to be successful one someday. Farhan left his passion in photography and chase his father’s wish to be an engineer.  A part of the movie wherein it is their job interview and his father bought him a brand new laptop because he thought that it would be a great help for his son especially if he would pass the job interview and be hired for work. I idolized Farhan’s courage to speak for himself and let his father know what he wanted in his life. I understand his father’s side because our parents only wanted what’s best for us. They would not decide on something if they know it would be no good at all. But sometimes we need to speak out especially on what would really make us happy because a man would be truly human if he will be able to live his life to the fullest, meaning he had live his life the way he wanted it to be. I liked the scene in which he talked to his father that he don’t want to pursue engineering because he wanted to follow his heart, his dreams and it would be wildlife photographer. Fortunately, my parents give me freedom and let me choose my desired course to be taken in college. As I observed today, most of the students having this kind of situation like Farhan are come up with negative result. Some of them get tensed up and start fearing that if they do not study well, they will get scolded by their parents. I was touched on how his father reacted on the situation that he said that he will return the laptop that he just bought for his son and asked for the cost of the camera that his son would need on his endeavor.  It was a happy ending for Farhan because his father finally understands the meaning of happiness for his son and embraces him as a sign of his acceptance and love. In real life, our parents cannot bear the feeling of not seeing us happy, what they surely wants for us is the best of everything and sometimes they tend to forget that we already have our own life, own thoughts and own feelings. They made decisions that sometimes it is against our will but out of our love and respect for them we just kept to ourselves what we really wanted just to please them and not disappointing them. It is not wrong to stand up and talk to them what we really wanted but it should be in a nice way in which they would really understand what we really wanted to tell them. Whatever decisions we may have, our parents are our number one supporters and the one that will push us harder just for us to achieve our goals and dreams in life. I really admired Farhan’s courage to stand up to his father in order for him to have his life following the tracks of his dream and I also admired his parents especially his father for listening and understanding his son’s plea and supports him instead.

In Farhan’s story, I can reflect on the saying “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It”.  I have heard it said that the first ingredient of success is to dream a great dream. I have never heard of anyone dreaming of failure or aspiring to be unsuccessful. Failure does not play any part in dreaming. It is the dreamer that instills failure, not the dream. I have read of many very successful dreamers that failed numerous times before they experienced success. The difference is that failure was not going to end their dreams only motivate them to dream bigger.

Many of us fail to seek our purpose in life. We dream and then follow it up with a list of all the reasons why the dream is unachievable. We fill our lives with excuses and "I can't." The only true limits you experience in life are those you create or those you allow others to impose upon you. If you can dream it, you can do it!

Sometimes when we read the words of those who have been more than conquerors, we feel almost despondent. I feel that I shall never be like that. But they won through step by step by little bits of wills, little denials of self, little inward victories by faithfulness, and in very little things. They became what they are. No one sees these little hidden steps. They only see the accomplishment, but even so, those small steps were taken. There is no sudden triumph, no spiritual maturity. That is the work of the moment. Dreaming is the easy part. Acting on the dream is harder. Recognize that a dream is a journey. On the simplest level, it takes commitment, time, desire, and courage. But rarely is something great easily realized.

In Bruce Wilkinson's book, "The DreamGiver," he tells the story of a man named Anybody. Anybody has a great dream, but struggles to break free of his comfort zone and push toward his dream. One afternoon he draws the courage and begins to tell others of his dream. They laugh at him, tell him to stop being foolish and forget about his dreams. "Stop kidding yourself, you can't do it," they would remind him. These "dream bullies" make every effort to push him back to mediocrity. A few years ago, I decided that I was going to step out in faith, believe in myself and God's purpose for my life. I was going to follow my dream. I was in a similar place as "Anybody." I was comfortable but unhappy. I, too, dreamed a greater dream. When I came to the realization that I wanted more out of life, I created a motivational phrase to keep me going when I felt challenged. "If you can dream it, you can do it!" I made it my life's mission statement. No longer was I going to stand in the way of my dreams or was I going to let anyone else either. Many people questioned my decisions and looking back now I recognize why; my dreams impacted them. I challenged their comfort zones. They feared my success in the future because of the implications that it had on their lives. They worried that they would lose their partner in pity or were so locked into mediocrity and their comfort zones that it was impossible for them to imagine my success. They viewed the process or decision with great skepticism. Today, my dream is evolving, but the dream is still very much alive. Has it been easy? No. Has it been rewarding? Yes. Will someday I realize my dream? Definitely. Many of the people that impacted history came from humble beginnings. We can easily look to the Bible to discover humble greatness. Moses immediately comes to mind. He stuttered and God chose him to speak to Pharaoh. He felt inadequate and unable to achieve the greatness God had laid before him. God often chooses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. Dreaming is recognizing and embracing the potential for greatness and seeking it in all areas of your life. Believe in your dreams and your ability to accomplish them. Keep your dreams in front of you. Never forget, if you can dream it, you can do it! We are continually faced with great opportunities disguised as insurmountable obstacles. I know that first hand. Opportunities may not always seem perfect at first–but if you don’t take them when they are presented, they may never come again. So seize the opportunities that are presented to you and make them your own. If something speaks to your heart, don’t hold back. Jump! Make things happen for yourself. Step out on faith–and I mean deep-water faith.  Even the most ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things in life–If you believe in yourself and your dreams, have the courage to change, and persevere until you reach your dream, no matter the obstacles. And if Plan A doesn’t work out, don’t give up–go to Plan B, Plan C, etc. Who knows–there just may be an even bigger plan for you?

Vincent Van Gogh said, “I dream my painting. Then I paint my dream.” Dream the Big Dream. Identify what you are most passionate about–and then pursue that with a passion. You can achieve your heart’s desires–anything you want to. Don’t ever let anyone–especially yourself–tell you that your dreams are silly or unimportant. They are your dreams. And every dream is within your power to achieve.

I am living, breathing proof that dreams do come true. So never settle for less. We should never give up on our dreams. We should have the courage to follow our hearts. Our hearts will never steer us in the wrong direction, because it is through our hearts that the universe speaks to us. And then we will find our dream in that place where our mind meets our hearts and our souls."Those who lose dreaming are lost."Unknown

The second character in the movie is Raju Rastogi, compared to Rancho and Farhan, he belongs to a poor family. He had a sick father who was once a postman, a mother who is retired and an unwed sister that could not marry because they could not afford the dowry that the family of the groom wanted. He wanted to be an engineer because he wanted to make his parents happy and could provide a good life for his family. He is a type of person in which he values his family so much because for them, he is their last hope for their family. He really wanted to finish and graduate engineering because for him it would give him a stable job and could offer him a salary to suffice the needs of his family. In the movie, he is the serious one and don’t want to be distracted by the doings of his friends Rancho and Farhan and so he decided to move to another room so that he could stay focus on studying his lessons but it did not went well because his friends made a plan to make him realize that they are good company and not Chatur. He thought that he is in bad company his friends would distract him in his studies and would be the reason for his failures in class. But he was completely wrong, because even though he moved to another room, lie lowed from his friends but in the end they are the one who helped his father to be brought right away to the hospital especially Rancho. He is the one who did a lot of effort for it just to bring Raju’s father to the hospital in time. And by that time, he realized that friends will always be friends especially in times of troubles, trials and difficulties. Our friends will be the one we can share our thoughts freely and they will be always there for us no matter. True friends are really hard to find and if you have them keep them and treasure them. There’s this incident in the story wherein they the three friends were in trouble because they get drunk and crashed on Mr. Virus’s house in the middle of the night because of their be on Rancho that he should confess his feelings for Pia, Mr. Virus’s daughter. They were in trouble because Mr. Virus woke up and been able to recognize one of them and unfortunately, it was Raju. In the morning during their class, they were caught by Mr. Virus because they fell asleep on their room and found a bottle of rum with them and so Raju was invited by Mr. Virus in his office. They talked on his office and gave Raju a warning. He will not be able to graduate in time because of what happened last night and made a bargain with him. He would erase his name on the list of students that will not graduate if he will put the name of Rancho on it and will be his witness for such act. It would be a very hard decision for Raju to make because it is a dilemma between his future and his loyalty for his friend. If I were in Raju’s shoes, it would be very hard and risky decision for me because, whatever I will choose there would be a consequence for it. If I will choose to put my friend in danger in replace for me, it would be him who will not be able to graduate and it would be a lifetime guilt for me but if I will choose not to erase my name and not to witness against my friend, I would be the one who will not graduate and would bring disappointment to my family. I understand that he choose to jump off the building and commit suicide because of mental pressure that he needed to decide sometimes suicide is an person’s escape for all the problems that he is going through. Committing suicide would not bring any good to us because it would not resolve any issues in our lives but instead it would worsen the case. But in Raju’s case he chose suicide than to sacrifice things that he valued the most. He was hospitalized and everyone was very worried about him especially his family and friends that love him so much. They did everything just to show Raju that they are strong despite what happened to him because it would be great help for him to wake up and recover easily. And fortunately after all their efforts, Raju recovered from the incident and they all rejoiced for such good news. I admired his determination because even though he just recovered from his accident and his legs were still broken, he still went on their job interview and answered all the interviewers’ questions confidently. I admired also his attitude that he would not change himself just to please the interviewers’. He said in his interview, “You keep your job and I’ll keep my attitude”. Our attitude composes our being and it is made even stronger by the experiences that we encountered in our lives. Just like Raju he is stronger now because of what happened to him. He can be someone if he will just be determined and strong to face the trials in life that he may face. In Raju’s story, I learned that we should also conquer all our fears for tomorrow. Fear is simply because you are not living with life, you are living in your mind. Your fear is always about what’s going to happen next. That means your fear is always about that which does not exist. If your fear is about the non-existent, your fear is hundred percent imaginary. If you are suffering the non-existential, we call that insanity. So, people may be in just socially accepted levels of insanity, but if you’re afraid or if you’re suffering anything which does not exist, it amounts to insanity, isn’t it?

According to Sadhguru, people are always suffering either what happened yesterday or what may happen tomorrow. So your suffering is always about that which does not exist, simply because you’re not rooted in reality, you’re always rooted in your mind. Mind is – one part of it is memory, another part of it is imagination. Both of them are in one way imagination, because both of them don’t exist right now. You’re lost in your imagination, that’s the basis of your fear. If we were rooted in reality, there would be no fear. What fear does is it puts boundaries around us. It is because of fear that you build boundaries all the time. If you put boundaries and restrict the area of your life, you may be safe but the problem is you are safe even from life. You are protected from life itself. That’s real protection! You must decide whether you have come here to experience life or to avoid life. If you have come to experience life, one thing that is needed is intensity. If you do not have intensity you will experience a meager life. The moment you use fear as a tool to protect yourself, your intensity will go down. Once it goes down, your ability to experience life is gone. You become a psychological case. What happens in your mind is all there will be. You will never experience anything fantastic and ecstatic because when you are fearful, you will not have a sense of abandon. You can’t sing, you can’t dance, you can’t laugh, you can’t cry, you can’t do anything that is life. You can only sit here and grieve about life and all the risks of life. If you look at it carefully, what is fear about? Your fear is never about what has happened. It is always about what may happen. It is always about the future. The future is yet to happen. It has not yet happened. That means, it is not in existence. So, being fearful means you are suffering that which does not exist. If you suffer that which does not exist, should we call you sane or insane? Your only comfort is “everybody is like me.” You have the majority with you! But that still doesn’t make it right because you are suffering that which does not exist.

Fear is not a product of life. Fear is a product of a hallucinatory mind. You suffer that which does not exist because you are rooted not in reality but in your mind which is constantly eating up on the past and excreting into the future. You don’t actually know anything about future. You just take a piece of the past, apply make-up on it and think it is future. At the most you will die, nothing more. At least live before you die because anyway you will die.

You can plan your tomorrow but you cannot live in your tomorrow. But right now people are living in tomorrow and that is why there is fear. The only thing you can do about this is, come down to reality. If you just respond to what is there right now and not imagine something that does not exist, there is no room for fear. Once the hallucination is gone, where is fear? You will not imagine something that does not exist, you will respond to what exists right now. Please look at it and see, what the hell can happen after all? At the most you will die, nothing more. At least live before you die because anyway you will die. We are not wishing it upon ourselves. We are planning to live for many years, but it can happen, isn’t it? There is really no security with life. It is just a question of how gracefully and with how much freedom you lived this life. If you have lived, it will be worth dying. Otherwise life will be a regret death will be a regret.

Lastly, the most important and lead character in the movie is Rancho. Rancho studied in Imperial College of Engineering for his simple enthusiasm on machines and devices. Rancho always surprises every time he appeared and overwhelmed other people around him as well as the professors with his stupefying stories. In the movie, Rancho was appeared when every freshman in the university was bullied by the seniors in their weird “ritual”. But Rancho did not perform that weird ritual and he always whispered in his self “All izz well, All izz well”. So what he did was we run and went to the small room and locked the door and the professor outside do the countdown from one to ten and afraid him. But Rancho did not frighten about the words of the professor. While the professor do the countdown, he make a way, he make a smart invention, and he make a bright idea by applying simple application of basic Physics so that he can avoid the weird ritual. So what he did was he connects the spoon to the wire and tap the spoon to the ruler and he put this outside the door. With this simple application in physics, he had taught the seniors and even the professor a valuable lesson. For his simple technique and strategy, I salute him because in just ten seconds imagine he can do this amazing thing which I know every one of us cannot think of this thing like of what he was done. In school, Rancho used to keep outside more often inside classrooms and if he gets kicked out from the one class and he go in other classroom because of his attitude that he keeps on insulting the professor and saying something whether it is good or not. But I like the fact that he was not scared of being scolded by his teachers. One day, their professor Mr. Viru “Virus” Sahastrabudhhe shared a very interesting stories about the astronaut’s pen, in the middle part of the discussion their professor said to them who wants this pen?, everyone was raising their hands expect for Rancho because I think he is not satisfied of the explanation of the professor and he asked a question “Sir, if in space fountain pen ball pen cannot be used, why did not astronauts try using a pencil in space Sir?”. After that everyone was laughing and because of that their professor Mr. Viru “Virus” Sahastrabudhhe was got angered and got insulted. With his question, I can say that he has a wild imagination. Rancho believes and he always used to say that knowledge is increasing everywhere where ever you get, gain it. And yes, it is absolutely true. Knowledge is not limited only in one place such as schools, houses or everything else but knowledge can get everywhere. And whenever you get it, grab and gain and spread that to the people running around. Rancho also believes that success in engineering is not achieved by memorizing the contents or the definition given by textbooks or professors but success in engineering achieved by understanding and applying it in concepts. Yes, I do agree with the statement of Rancho that we should not be dependent on the contents or the definition of the books or the lessons given by our teachers because it is limited only, we should explore more things in our own so that we can get and we can gain more knowledge. I remember before, one of my professor said that explore new things in your own and discovered it on your own way because I’m just your instructor or facilitator because I cannot give everything on you. So what he did to his students is he makes a thing that would teach us to explore and discover new things. Another inspiring message that Rancho said to the movie was he believes that one should follow excellence, not success, as success will come by itself if excellence is followed. In this piece of line, I absolutely say that it is very true. You cannot be successful in life if you do not have excellent mind. Excellence does not only mean that you are intelligent or whatsoever but it’s the strategies and techniques that you make in order to be successful one someday. Rancho is completely different from his classmates. He is different the way he thinks, the way he act and the way he handle things and people around. We all know that Rancho is very fan of asking questions but he asked questions at the right places and in the right time. He makes simpler the concepts in the textbooks and come up with bright ideas which I think his classmates does not have. There was a scene in the movie that Rancho said that going to school is not all about having good grades, it is all about learning and gaining knowledge in what we do. So this is his mind set. Yes, it is definitely right. For me as student, having or getting good grades in school is not enough without learning and gaining knowledge in whatever I do. Another statement in the movie, Rancho said that make your passion your profession. As I watched the movie, I can see that Rancho is very passionate in his profession. He did the things in his field with passion and determination. And I do believe in this line that loving and have a passion in your profession will bring you into success. He also mentioned in the movie that he learned technology not only with passion but he learned with all his heart and never stopping finding new things. It is true, we need to put our hearts in what we are doing and never stop finding new things so that we can be successful someday. Rancho plays a role of a great adviser in the movie to his two friends namely Farhan and Raju and the people around. Every time his friends encountered problems, rancho is on the rescue by giving the right advise to the. He is a very funny person. Every time they were together they were very happy and making jokes to everyone. Rancho mentioned that he thinks of a school that I not a race. But it is a place of enlightening ideas, gaining knowledge and dedication for study. And he also said that life is not a race, if you do not run fast, you will be like a broken cuckoo bird. So it means that we need to work hard and we need to be excellent so that we do not left in the race of life. One of the characteristics that I admired most to him is he was very especially when the father of his best friend Raju brought to the hospital. At the end, Rancho has conquered the struggles in his life one by one with his bravery, excellence, intelligence, self-confidence and a lot more. But sad to say he vanished without saying goodbye to his two friends –Farhan and Raju and to his beloved lover.

Rancho is the person who really wants to learn in a simple way. I remember, he told the professor why make things difficult if you could explain it simple. Rancho is an intelligent man; he loves to learn many things around him. He likes to explore and try to invent something that comes out with his mind. He always think especially when dealing with new creations he was about to think, he always reach his hands to those he thinks that person needs help. As a friend with Farhan and Raju, cannot compare to anyone because he is a person that always think first his friends than himself. He really cares his friends and really enjoys the company with them. What I never forget in him in the movie is his great mind, the way he bring himself to others, the way he deal with others and thinking new ideas to create new technology. His thinking capacity really helps him to think new ideas, he easily thinks and he is confident of what he wanted to create. Rancho never give up in things, except love, I think so. He is not ashamed in talking people instead he shares what he is thinking, his ideas and what he believes. Rancho has principles in life, he believes on what he really thinks is right and also what he do what he wanted to do. He is actually unbelievable because of the quality that he has. I would say he is amazing with his works, his influences that he brought to the school, professors, and classmates especially Farhan and Raju.

Rancho is different among his two friends because since birth Rancho loves in learning new things. He is a lucky person because though he did not the real Ranchoddas Shamaldas ChanChad, he was given a chance to go to school and learn many things that he wanted to learn. The father of the real Rancho was settled a contract. This contract was to use the name of Ranchoddas Shamaldas ChanChad because Rancho was really a brilliant child; he is studios rather than the real Rancho. Though is not good for both of them, still they took advantage each of them. Rancho is unique among the students of Imperial College of Engineering because he is the only one who would opposed to a professor, he says what he thinks, he never afraid what people may think of him as long as he believe with himself that he is right. Rancho to his friends, he is really a good friend because he always look for what is best to his friends. He really values the friendship that he had with Farhan and Raju. In the movie he bet Professor Virus that he is surely believes that his friends Farhan and Raju could get a job after they will graduate. My reflection with Rancho is being nice to my friends, though not always but I looked up what is best for my friends.

“All is Well” always comes out from the mouth of Rancho. If there is a difficult situation, he always says this quote. He believes that whatever circumstances may lead, if there is any obstacle he may encounter, he will just say this and he will be calm. “All is Well”, I believe that in this quote means everything will be ok. This is for calming a situation that you feel nervous as what Rancho showcase in the movie. I never forget in the movie was when the sister of Pia who is Mona will suddenly give birth to his child. That day, the rain was so heavy that the school was in flood and during that time Rancho, Farhan and Raju was caught red-handed with the copy of the questionnaire from Professor Virus. Then, that was forgotten when Mona is giving birth. They cannot bring Mona to the hospital because of the flood so Rancho together with his friends and students in the school help each other. They put Mona on the table tennis table but suddenly, it was blackout. Pia who was not in the school, uses the webcam to communicate with them. She is the one who will command Rancho what to do in delivering the baby. Mona gets weak, so Pia told Rancho to vacuum the baby. She demonstrate how it works by the video he was to show with them. Rancho thinks easily and has the idea of making a vacuum. He is very resourceful, as long as there is the material that must be needed in his creations; he would actually made the unique one. Rancho together with his friends they made their creations from generator to vacuum. Rancho tries to vacuum the baby, and it was successful. The baby comes out but it does not cry. They thought the baby was dead, they feel sad so the mother of the baby cries. Raju comfort Mona, and tell her their favorite quote “All is Well”, suddenly the baby kick the face of Rancho. Rancho was shocked and could not believe that the baby was alive and it responses because of that quote. All were very happy and embraces everyone. Professor Virus was also could not believe what happens but he actually salute the students on what they have done. What I like he said to the baby is, what you heart wants, follow it. Everyone shocked with the Professor but with that, they feel happy.
After Mona gave birth, Rancho was ready to go since he was rejected in school by Professor Virus because of cheating. Professor Virus stops Rancho and apologizes to him. He told Rancho that he was amazed with him but he says to him that he will not always be perfect, he also commit mistakes.

If would choose among the three characters in the movie, I will obviously choose Rancho or Rancchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad because he stands out above them all. He is able to inspire me in many ways like in the quote that he always say “Pursue excellence, and success will follow, pants down.” For me, if we aim for dreams aim it high because it would be our motivation in life to reach that goal. If we will be able to excel in our chosen careers or paths that we wanted to take, our success on it will not be impossible to achieve because if we love what we are doing, everything will be just in place plus it would be a fulfillment of our long life dreams. He made realize that grades are just basis on how well I am able to comprehend the lessons taught in school but it is should not be our basis for our excellence but on how we are able to apply it in real life and learn from it because learning should not stop by the time we graduated school but it is a long way process until the end of our life.  But the most striking quote that I heard from the movie is that “Make your passion, your profession”, it is the most striking for me because it really applies what we are going through right now. We cannot accomplish tasks or be successful in a work if our hearts are not on it because we will never be contented on it and we tend to look and ask for more. It would be very good if we will be able to follow what we really want for our lives. I took BSIT Course because I have this passion in computers, I wanted to know everything about it even though programming is the least that I love in this course but I have to embrace it wholeheartedly because it is part of what I called my passion. I want to be somebody someday that my family could be proud of. I want to be someone someday that is contented in life because I am able to fulfill and reached my goals in life.

This movie taught me a lot when it comes to life and in choosing happiness. For me, they are not idiots, but for me they are smart men. They had inspired so many lives just by watching and understanding the moral behind this movie. And this movie, is one of my favorite movies of all times and I have watched it several times but every time I am watching it the impact of this movie is still the same just like what it is to me on the very first time I am able to watch it. I do hope that they will still continue to make movies like this one because it is a very good movie to recommend in all ages for it teaches us many things about life and could inspire us in many ways. This movie made me like the lead actor Ahmir Khan and I am a big fan of him. I watched his movies because all were very inspiring and have lots of lessons to teach us.

Meeting July 4 2015

What I like in the sharing:

First of all, our facilitator conduct a make-up class in IT Elective 1 ( Tecnopreneurship 1 ). Because we didn't meet him in the whole week because he is busy with some work. So the make-up class is held last July 4 2015. So I got there in time, and my friends and classmates already prepared for our facilitator to come and conduct his class. After I seated, minutes had passed, our facilitator arrived, and he started to talk. We are shock because he gave us a quiz. We need to prepare a sheet of yellow paper and a black pen, because this quiz will serves as our first and last quiz in this semester. I liked this part of his make-up class because our facilitator's quiz is very tricky, his simple instruction is very easy but tricky. So we need another paper because he said that there must be no erasure. So many of my classmates don't have a paper, and we need to buy paper from other classmates worth P20. So, in order to have a piece of paper, we need to pay our classmates. In order to continue our quiz, our facilitator required us to use blue pen to answer his questions. But most of my classmates don't have a blue pen, so he said that he is willing to sell his blue pen for P100. Me and my classmates shock because of the price. But he permitted us to use black rather than using blue. In the final part of the quiz, he show us a figure with a 9 dots. We must draw it in the center of our paper, and we must connect the 9 dots using 4 lines without lifting our hands. At first it was very difficult because it is impossible to connect the 9 dots using 4 lines without lifting our hands. But in some point, I remember something that it goes like this. I remember solving this kind of tricky question in past life with another teacher or maybe with my past friends and classmates. So I figured it out and answer it with no hassle. When our facilitator wants to check our paper, he call some students to answer the 9 dots correctly. The first attempt was a fail, because they said it's impossible to connect the 9 dots using 4 lines without lifting their hands. Then, the second attempt also fail, they can't figured it out. So, our facilitator decided to pick some of my classmates who answered it correctly. He picked one of my friends, and he answered it correctly. And my other classmates are shocked about it , because answering the 9 dots is tricky also. And after that our facilitator questioned us that what is the purpose of these 9 dots to be answered by us. Our facilitator teach us a lesson about the 9 dots that "Do not think inside the box but rather go outside the box".  So, after hearing it, I was shocked and many things and ideas go into my mind after hearing these. And what is the meaning of these regards to our quiz about the 9 dots. For me, the meaning of this is that we must not limit our learning's and ideas, and we must not limit our understanding what we learned from our different teachers, we must explore outside the school, and learn new things, and discover new ideas to develop. We must exceed our learning's rather than keeping a line against it, so that it will help us to become more productive and gain more knowledge. And to be able to enhance our skills right now to some different levels with high capabilities and skills as we learned and understand. We are very amazed about our quiz because our facilitator gives us that lesson to be applied in real life that time and in the future. And also he talks about the money we give to our classmates to have some piece of paper, the purpose of it, because technopreneurship talks about money, technology and the most important the business we are taking on. And our facilitator order us to give us the money back to the right owner after the class.

That was the first part I liked most. And after the quiz, our facilitator began his class, and teaches us and share his experiences to us. As our facilitator starts his discussion with us, we are really attentive and wants to hear some of his experiences, so that we will be inspired by him also. So he started to discuss about what really a technopreneur do, and what is technopreneur.  But first our facilitator tell us about what is the connection between entrepreneur in regards to technopreneurship. He said everything he know about it, and explain to us in a simple way with great examples. So, I learned what a technopreneur really do. And why technopreneur exist. So our facilitator share his experience about developing technopreneur in our country, Philippines. Our facilitator share his experience on how did he introduce technopreneurship in our country, especially here in Davao city. For me, our facilitator is very great, I am inspired by his story on introducing this technopreneurship here in Davao City. Our facilitator is very creative about implementing his ideas, and our facilitator want Davao City to be more productive and to have better system in regards to technology, because Davao City is behind 5 to 7 years from the technology from Manila. Because in Manila, not just Manila, but whole Luzon, because there are many big companies in there. And most of IT Companies are from Manila, who help to contribute and help Philippines to excel and become productive. Our facilitator and his friend who become a dean in Ateneo De Davao University, the two of them is the one who introduced the technopreneurship here in Davao. They plan it so that for the whole benefits of the students and all the people. Because it gives them the best opportunities in life. Our facilitator and his friend who become a dean in Ateneo De Davao University received a letter from the Australia, and offer them to study and go to school there for free for a short period of time to learn more and to become more productive and to learn more about technopreneurship. Our facilitator said that the short period his talking about is about 2 years. So we laugh about our facilitator reaction, because if he go to the Australia and study there for 2 years, he will be depart from his families, and if our facilitator get sick, who will be the one who will  care for him. I enjoyed that part. So our facilitator and his friend who become a dean in Ateneo De Davao University plan and have a better idea, they counter the offer from the Australia, they said that how about they go to the Philippines, especially in Davao City and conduct a seminar for how many days to teach and learn more about technopreneurship rather than going to Australia and go to school and learn more about technopreneur for 2 years. And suddenly their counter idea works with the white people. They decided to go to the Davao City and conduct seminars to teach people and implement technopreneurship. We are amazed what did our facilitator to counter their offer and make them go to Davao City rather than go to the Australia to learn. As they prepared for the coming of the Australian people especially big time entrepreneurs and technopreneurs. Our facilitator invites all technopreneurs from Manila, and the presidents of every school in the Philippines, and especially in the region 11. So our facilitator prepares a lot for this big event and big opportunities for the people and students in Davao City, and so that technopreneurship will be recognize in our country. Until the said event gather and they learned many things from the Australian people from business to technology and the most important part is that the Australian Companies implement technopreneurship here in Davao City, and that is the first step plan of our facilitator, and until he able to establish the technoprenership here in Davao City, and soon he implemented it in Manila, and in the whole country. Me and my classmates is very proud of our facilitator because of his contribution to Davao City, to implement his ideas to give the students and other people opportunities to create and move to become a technopreneur in our country and learned many things out of it.

That was the second part I liked most. The next discussion of our facilitator is about the goals of the students and other people in life. Our facilitator introduced to us the mindset of a certain student or person and the alternative mindset. First he questioned us, what is our mindset as a student in life. So we answered and luckily we are correct. But the actual mindset of a student like us is to go to school, learn new things, get a degree, and get a job. Well that is the truth if we ask some students out there, for sure it's the same thing if we asked them, their answers will be just like the actual mindset, to go to school, study and learn, get a degree, and get a job. I do some research in the internet, that there are two types of mindset. the first one is the fixed mindset, and the other one is the growth mindset. Both of them is a basic mindset of all students and people. People in a fixed mindset believe you either are or aren't good at something, based on your inherent nature, because it's just who you are. For me this fixed mindset, is the most common to us because you just think of what is the outcome of your goals in life, and this kind of mindset is very harmful for us, so it's worth understanding and considering how it's affecting you. For an example when you have a fixed mindset, you can say someone that "she's a natural born singer" or "I'm just no good at dancing". While people having a growth mindset believe anyone can be good at anything, because your abilities are entirely due to your actions in life. The growth mindset believes trouble is just important feedback in the learning process. For an example when you have a growth mindset, you believe "anyone can be good at anything. Skill comes only from practice.". In a fixed mindset, you look inside yourself to find your true passion and purpose, as if this is a hidden inherent thing, and failures define you. While In a growth mindset, you keep up your confidence by always pushing into the unfamiliar, to make sure you’re always learning. You commit to mastering valuable skills regardless of mood, knowing passion and purpose come from doing great work, which comes from expertise and experience. And one more thing, our facilitator introduced an alternative mindset to us, that we need to develop and to practice. This alternative mindset is to think outside the box, and not to limit your ideas to your knowledge only. This alternative mindset is dedicated to us: students, and other people to have opportunities in the near future. In an alternative mindset the student must go to school, study and learn, get a degree, create a company. So this alternative mindset is good for us and we must develop it on our selves because we exceeding our knowledge to better opportunities, having a job to create something new, to start up our own business and company, being an employer rather than being an employee after getting a degree. After hearing this from our facilitator, I am thinking of having this mindset rather than choosing the other mindset, because this alternative mindset will exceed my expectation to create my own company after I graduated in College.
So the last one I liked most is that there are schools with incubation hub back then. Our facilitator discussed and share about the incubation hub being built in Davao City. So what is an incubation hub? It is my first time to hear that word from our facilitator, and me and my friends are wondering what is the purpose for that incubation hub. So, our facilitator explained what is the purpose of this incubation hub being built in Davao City, because it helps students and other people to help them to make new and start up companies to develop by providing services such as management, or office space in a certain place. Our facilitator share his story and experiences about these incubation hub. The first incubation hub was built in the Broken Shire school here in Davao City, It is the first implementation to built one in Davao City. Our facilitator tells the details of this Incubation hub in Broken Shire school. The components of the incubation hub is a big container just like the container in a ship transportation. Inside the container, there are some office equipments to do work, just like aircon, computer set, internet, and everything needed for a start up. This is a great help and a good opportunity to start up a company or a business with friends, because the dean of the Broken shire offers no fees, the incubation hub they built is for free. So that the students and other people have enough time to discuss their plans and to develop their ideas with comfortable room and they also have all the things needed to establish their start up. But the incubation hub in Broken Shire school didn't last long because after the resignation of the dean who implemented the idea, the incubation hub gone. The students and people who works here losses hope because they don't have a place to continue their plans and development with all the things they needed to establish that and a place with no amount. As our facilitator continue his discussion and experience, he tell us that there are an incubation hub built in the UIC ( University of Immaculate Conception ). For students who want to have a start up company with their friends. But it is not free said by our facilitator. You must pay in order to use the incubation hub there. How about the people with potential with great ideas to establish his or her own start up company if he or she don't have a money to pay to use an incubation hub, because he or she is lacked of things needed to build his own start up company. Also our facilitator said that our new building inside the University of Southeastern Philippines, they gonna build an incubation hub. Hope we can use it before we graduated in Institute of Computing. But it takes years before our building will be build. Our facilitator discussed more lessons , he also introduce a little information about the SEED curriculum he implemented this year.

What I like least in the sharing:

Well, all the discussion and experiences shared by our facilitator are very interesting , inspiring and we learned a lot from it liked all the discussion our facilitator tell us, but some of it is just don't come in my mind, or I didn't like it much. I don't like the part where the new dean or president of Broken Shire school remove the incubation hub. Because it is the opportunity for the most of the students and other people to make their own start up company. Because one of these students, will be excel and become a technopreneurship in the near future by the help of this incubation hub. And also, students and people also needs things they needed to help them to plan and develop their start up companies. The incubation hub helps the students to gain more knowledge. And also with this the talented person who have a nice idea, they will grow and learn more in the time they stay in the program. This is also a great opportunities to the young ones so that they have the place with facilities to develop something creative that can help to themselves in achieving their goals. For me I like the idea of the incubation hub, because most of the people nowadays don’t have the fund to develop a project. Money is what you need to develop something nowadays. And in our situation here in the Philippines it is difficult to find money, especially when that somebody don’t have job. We have fewer opportunities to develop the knowledge that we are so post to be developed. I believed that the young ones in our country have the guts to compete to the other countries. But our government don’t have seen it, they don’t give funds to the youths with talents so that they can be successful. Mostly of the Filipino nowadays is poor. And I know that the young ones that are not rich have the best ideas that they can offer to our society. And with the incubation hub, I know that they can develop it in free. For example the person who have the idea don’t have job, they have the opportunity to make that idea possible. And we all know that nothing is impossible only human being make it impossible. If we do our work with happiness and dedication I know that we can make impossible possible.  For me the new president or dean of the Broken Shire school is not helping the students to become productive in their life careers. I think the new president or dean of the Broken Shire school don't want to see their students become successful in life. For me, he or she wants to stop and cut their students opportunity to make a new start up company. And she cut the possibility that someone will succeed

Our facilitator also said about the Ateneo De Davao University building a incubation hub for students and people to take opportunities and to come up with new ideas to create new start up companies. But their plans didn't go and never implemented in their school, our facilitator said also that they planned it to build the incubation hub about last 10 years but until now, they failed to build it and never implemented and develop. I don't know why schools can't build this incubation hub for students who have great ideas to be develop. I think building this incubation hub is not that difficult and costly. I can see the idea of the last president or dean of the Broken Shire school, by his or her idea , by making the big container as an incubation hub with complete things inside like aircon, internet, and other useful things needed to start up a company. I am excited of the new building of Institute of Computing with an incubation hub, works well with the students to perform and develop their ideas and to create start up companies with their friends, and I hope that if they build an incubation hub here in USEP ( University of Southeastern Philippines) , the incubation hub must be free.

I didn't say the I hate some of our facilitator's lessons and discussions. But is it required for us to right some words to the things that we don't like least about the discussion. About the events we required to join by our facilitator, we are excited about it because it is free, without having a money to pay, we just go there to present our great and precious ideas that our facilitator approved, so that we can seek opportunities , and if we are selected as winner, there is a chance that they will hire me soon to their companies. I am looking forward to these event but I have a feeling of scared to face new challenges, face other schools with their top students with greater ideas than yours. I must overcome it so that I can win and presented my school for my success. Our facilitator wants to seek awards, because our facilitator wants his students to become successful in life and have an opportunity to create our own start up company and be successful. Our facilitator said to us that in many years he teach in USEP ( University of Southeastern Philippines ) he is not happy because he didn't see yet a student graduated in Institute of Computing who will create his or own company and become an employer rather than applying for a job to be an employee in his entire life. Our facilitator share a picture of some who become successful in life and works on abroad, she is very successful in life because she is smart and hard working. Our facilitator always wanted her to come back to Davao City to work and help Davao City to improve but she didn't want to. Well people have different path to take, it depends on them if they want to go back to their place to work and contribute to the development of his or her own country especially in the city where he or she graduated and took his or her degree. Our facilitator, it is just like he shares his knowledge and experiences on us by doing things, developing things, and exploring undiscovered ideas that people and students  could gain. For me, our facilitator's principles in life is indeed worth to be inspired by it and praised. Also our facilitator said to us in the beginning of the class that he does not teach for living, he teaches us because he wants to share his knowledge and experiences upon us and he also wants the lives of his students to be successful in life and find good opportunities, and to create their own start up company. With his actions, as a professional facilitator, I think and I'm sure that every instructor and facilitator like him wants his students to step out on our cage and face the real world. They want to us to learn from everything, from our mistakes, and they want us to find solutions for it to overcome it someday , and we can become successful in life. Our facilitator is very strict towards attitude, because he wants us to have good attitude towards other especially having a business in regards to technology. Because attitude is the most important traits to be develop as a successful person. Because our attitude as a person, a student, an entrepreneur, a technopreneur, will reflect on who we really are. Our facilitator wants us to dream and passionate to obtain our goals in life, he want to pass his knowledge to us so that we will become successful as he is right now, and want to share ideas to the whole world and implement your ideas. Our facilitator always remind us to study hard, and work hard and passionate to our works and goals, and we must explore every day to come up with new ideas so that as we graduated, we can create our own company business in technology and become an employer to be able to hire people, rather than being an employee, because our facilitator wanted us to become big, and his knowledge and experiences he share to us will not go to waste.

Also, we must not limit ourselves, we need to surpass our limits to learn more, because learning many things can come up with new ideas, and we must always be an open minded person on everything. We must go beyond our limits and boundaries to discover and explore new ideas and innovations that could help us to develop and share to the whole world. Our facilitator also wanted us to take any risk to find any small or big opportunities that will surely help us to continue our journey to become successful.

Our facilitator also introduced to us a glimpse of the SEED curriculum to be explained properly in the next meeting. School is said to be our second home where we could enhance our physical and mental abilities. In school, everything that you do will be observed, recorded, graded and appreciated. Students must bear in mind to always be excellent in everything they do while in school because the more they strive hard and work hard to be on top, the more chances they could have to get good grades, get on top of the class and have awards and medals. It is always a fulfilment to the parents if they see their children graduated, be professionals and be able to raise money for living. The other things to be discussed is all about the mindset our facilitator introduced to us. I liked it in a way that it helps me and other people to set a certain goal in life to follow it and to achieve it step by step. Because there are many things you can learn and it depends on a mindset you want to follow with passion. And I liked least about the mindset is to switch from a usual mindset to a different one, there are many kinds of mindset to be offered. But we must focus on the given situation where our facilitator gives us and teach us and introduced to us the alternative mindset. So most of my classmates and especially me have these usual mindset that sets our goals to go to school, study and learn, get a degree, and get a job. So this is the main focus of any students. But after our facilitator, Sir Gamboa explained to us the alternative mindset that we must take on rather than taking the usual mindset. For the first time it is very difficult to switch from a mindset to another mindset. But for me, after our facilitator discuss it with his experiences , I understand the importance of his teaching and sharing his experiences to us, it makes us motivate in such a way we must follow this kind of mindset so that we can become successful in life and find good opportunities waiting for us anywhere. This alternative mindset that is very advanced to usual mindset, to go to school, study and learn, and create your own start up company. For me it is just like exploring outside the box, that you go and surpassed your limits in order to achieve your goals in life. At first , I'm not interested of this kind of mindset, I just want to follow the usual mindset, but I was thinking to become passionate to become successful in life by taking this alternative mindset and follow it , because our facilitator wants us to become successful in life by his teaching and experiences he shared to us. We are inspired by our facilitator, by his hard work towards us that he always share his experiences and pass his knowledge to us to become good thinkers to generate good ideas.

We also show gratitude to our facilitator, Sir Gamboa by representing the students of Institute of Computing by winning in every contest and events conducted. Last year the higher years comes up with the 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, and 5th place. This is how students gain knowledge from our facilitator and apply to real life situations and scenarios. For those students who have high ambitions, they will not be contented on just becoming employees or workers. They will have the vision to have their own company, have their own workers and employees and be known on their expertise. Alternative Mindset is not just focusing on getting good grades and earning a high salary but it is beyond of the boundaries. I said “beyond the boundaries” because we are not sure if we will achieve to create and to own a company. But what matter most is that we have a perspective to reach this kind of goal. Before aiming this kind of objective we should use our knowledge wisely and effectively, as well as our skills, core values, our creativity and passion in order for us to create and innovate technology.  As we the new students of our facilitator, we are required to join to the said events and contest, but not the events and contest with a registration fee. Our facilitator didn't required us to join to the events with a registration fee because we can't afford it. In this coming events and contest, we must be serious about taking these events so that our facilitator will be proud of us, and by doing this things, we can learn more things and we can see opportunities in every events we are going to enter. And also we can discover new crazy ideas and soon we will implement it.

Our facilitator want to put technopreneurship subject in every IT curriculum in Davao City and to the whole country, our facilitator even introduced technopreneruship in Manila, and luckily they agreed about it. Because it helps students to become and learn more about business in technology and to make start up companies.

By putting this technopreneurship subject in every IT curriculum could make the graduates come into a decision to chase their technology based business plans and strategies as a start up in technology incubators. With this , venture capitalists will invest in their feasible high technology products. The start-ups they had created will be established into constant and firm IT enterprises and in the long run, it will locate them in IT parks (a place of high technology companies). I really like this kind of idea having technopreneurship as a part of IT curriculum because nowadays IT enterprises compete and participate in the domestic and global market and impel the growth of economy in the local area. It is so nice to know that our local IT industry blooms and it catches the attention of more locators and shareholders. With this kind of advocacy, our own graduates will come to a decision to build and create their career and profession here in Davao City. Also, there will be a chance that our graduates who left Davao City will come back and settle on to start again. If our graduates will not migrate to other places and pursue their career here in Davao, there is a possibility that through Technopreneurship,

Pirates of the Silicon Valley Reflection

1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

Steve Jobs is one of the most successful man in the history of computers and technology. As he studied and develop new computers with his friends. Even Steve Jobs, and his friends, don't have enough money to develop it. They didn't give up to their ideas in making a computer. They started with a borrowed money to develop their newly created company called Apple in their garage. And until he become a successful as Bill Gates who become a contributor in the history of technology. In the movie Pirates of the Silicon Valley, Steve Jobs really do something great and however he face success and failures in his entire career. Just like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs works hard to develop and present his ideas to the people, and until many investors invest to Steve Job's Apple Company. He is very passionate in every action he takes. He didn't lose hope and he never give up even if his creations had failed. Until he discovered and make an Operating system for his computer. Steve Jobs is a simple man with a passion. He loves what he's doing in life. He kept on exploring new things, and discover them. Learn and understand each concept and generate new ideas to develop.

Some factors that contributed to the success of Steve Jobs:

Ability to see a gold through a rock:
Steve Jobs was, according to his friend Wozniak, never like us. He was the kind of person who always saw things differently, so his level of thinking was never ordinary. One of the factors that contributed to his success was his level of thinking, his different approach and the way he saw things in a different way. Most of us when we see a delicious egg pie on a table we think of how delicious the pie must be, we think of wanting to eat the pie and how hungry we are. That’s how we usually think. Steve Jobs, however, was the kind of person who had thoughts beyond that. He was that person who wondered who had baked the pie, what the ingredients were and how they were made, and most importantly, if the pie would be salable enough to produce a profit. That’s how Steve Jobs thinks. That’s how he saw things differently. While most people think how hungry they must be, Steve Jobs thinks how to make something to satisfy their needs. In a way or another, Steve Jobs eyes’ had the potential to see some valuable gold behind a stupid rock. This one factor had contributed a lot to his success in his career.

Faith: Jobs didn’t always know what he was doing in life. A college dropout, many gave up on him and had little faith in his abilities. But, Jobs didn’t give up on himself. He continued pursuing avenues that he found interesting, trusting that in the end it would be more meaningful and even perhaps useful. He soon learned that everything in his life, even the most terrible things, seem to happen for a reason and he is now able to place a certain amount of trust in the uncontrollable.

Passion: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work,” says Jobs. From his first days working at his father’s workbench, Jobs knew that his future lay in the creation of things. It wasn’t until he met Wozniak in 1968 that he knew what those things were – personal computers. Despite failures such as Apple III and being fired from the company he helped found, Jobs managed to come back out on top because he knew that he didn’t want to devote his life to anything but his passion.

Courage: After being diagnosed with cancer and facing the threat of death, Jobs made a recovery and vowed to make the most of the second chance that he was given. He kept his eyes and ears open and had the courage to seize new opportunities as they came along. Whether risky or outright foolish, Jobs was from then on out determined to follow his intuition in guiding his business decisions. And, at a net worth of over $4 billion, it paid off.

Innovation: When other CEOs were focusing on sales and financing, Jobs was concerning himself with the next big thing. Personally meeting with suppliers and suppliers’ suppliers, Jobs made it his top priority to keep on top of the next frontier. By filling his company with only the brightest of people, Jobs continues to work towards ensuring Apple a place at the top of the market for years to come.

Vision: An open mind and the ability to put new twists on old techniques was one of the key distinguishing factors between Jobs and his competitors. From cute and utilitarian ads to those that appealed to counterculture rebellion, Jobs’ vision was integrated into every aspect of the company’s strategy. If you dreamed of changing the world, then Jobs was out to prove any way he could that you needed an Apple computer to do it.

Self Motivation: Steve Jobs did not want to stay stagnant. He wanted a change. A change that would rewrite the history of how mankind thinks. He did not limit his self to change his country, or make impact to his local neighbors, no, Steve Jobs was never like that he had set his mind to make a universal change. He wanted a revolution. To Steve Jobs, a change was not enough, he wanted to create a completely new consciousness. He had this thought pattern that was always one step ahead of us. And because of his self-motivation, his confidence grew like never before. Because he had so much protein in his brain, he used them up in a way that would benefit not only him but for the entire globe.

The People Around Him: The help he got from his employees, their hard work, their assistance, and their 90+ hours of work every week had contributed a lot to Steve Jobs success. If it weren’t for them, Steve Jobs couldn’t make it. Because even though he was a genius, Steve needed a workforce. He could not do it on his own. He needed a team. His team contributed a lot to his success.

Nonetheless, we all know that behind every success there is a failure. We all know of the success of Steve Jobs, and that how he became a history behind the Apple computers. But apart from that, Jobs, like every other technopreneurs in this world of technology, had also encountered failures in his life.

Risk taker: Steve Jobs determination made him a risk-taker. That was one of the factors that contributed to his success. He wasn’t afraid to grab the challenge, and he was always prepared to fail. But his determination to succeed was far more greater than his preparedness to fail, that was why, he effortlessly overcame the failure. If he allowed the failure to devour his dream, he wouldn’t be able to make it. Steve Jobs battled carefully. He was committed to an idea or any product to make it successful. Steve Jobs had his own philosophy when it comes to his field—he had his own vision, execution, and he had a focus without getting afraid of the possible risks. And because of these factors, Steve Jobs succeeded.
Some factors that contributed to the failures of Steve Jobs:

Prideful and too confident: In the movie Pirates of the Silicon Valley, we had seen how Steve Jobs had become too confident and proud of his ability, to the point that he unnecessarily humiliate his employees. Steve Jobs was a proud man, and well, he had the reason to become proud. But his too much pride and his too much confidence had also contributed to his failure in his technopreneurship journey. It is said that the pride of man is also the fall of man.

Attitude problem: He had the temper. And he was insanely great. His greatness did also lead him to his failure as a good leader. In fact, as I have understood it, Bill Gates was a greater leader than Steve. Bill Gates was a smooth talker while Steve Jobs was most of the time rude, if not harsh. We all have tempers. Steve Jobs had one, too. But because he was insanely great as other people describe him so, Steve Jobs’ temper was never like us. His temper and menace was one of the factors of his failures.

Lack of communication:
He failed to communicate to his people, to his employees, and he failed to understand that they were also humans capable of making mistakes. Steve Jobs looked at himself, of what he had greatly done, but he failed to look at the persons…of their feelings.

Self Obsessed: Steve Jobs was, of course, self-obsessed. To him his well-being was more important than others. He was too confident to the point that he refused to acknowledge his own mistakes. It was put on display when he denied his daughter. He did not acknowledge that his girlfriend was pregnant by him. It was more controversial since Steve Jobs himself was an orphan, in fact, he had spent much of his adult life looking for his real mother. This part of his life was one of the failures of Jobs.

Because he was self-obsessed, and too proud, and that he had a temper, they all contributed to his failure. Before he was successful, he failed. Steve Jobs, like everybody else, was once a product of a failure

2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?

I can see myself as a technopreneur in a way such that I can build something new from a crazy idea in terms of business and technology. By applying my knowledge and create and develop my ideas. I can become like Steve Jobs who he is very smart and innovative in such a way that he tried and tried with his friends to be a successful person, as like him, I want to pursue my goals and see my future as a technopreneur with my innovative ideas.

Well, what really a technopreneur looks like or what they really do in business with technology. A technopreneur is an entrepreneur who is technology savvy, creative, innovative, dynamic, dares to be different and take unexplored path, and very passionate about their work. Technopreneurship is not a product but a process of synthesis in engineering the future of a person, an organization, a nation and the world. Strategic directions or decision making processes are becoming more demanding and complex. This requires universities, and in site professional development programs and training to produce strategic thinkers who will have skills to succeed in a rapidly changing global environment. Traditional university programs, however, lack the teaching methods to turn today's students into creative, innovative, visionary, global leaders who understand the importance of technopreneurship. High tech and entrepreneurial skills are driving our economy back to prosperity. Technopreneurship merging technology prowess and entrepreneurial skills is the real source of power in today's knowledge based economy. A technopreneur distinguishes logic from tradition, tradition from prejudice, prejudice from common sense and common sense from nonsense while integrating a variety of ideas from diverse groups and disciplines.

They take challenges and strive to lead their life with greater success. They don't fear to fail. They take failure as a learning experience, a stimulator to look things differently and stride for next challenge. Technopreneurs continuously go through an organic process of continual improvement and always try to redefine the dynamic digital economy. For me as a student, and soon to be a technopreneur in terms of technology and business. I am developing my skills further so that I can be like them someday like Steve Jobs and Other successful man in terms of technology business. And for me, I wanted to take risk so that even I fail many times but someday I will become a successful in the future. I wanted to become a successful person in life, In order to see myself in the future as a technopreneur, I must have the required skills and knowledge and especially my ideas. I must go and explore always until I passed my limits.

By exploring new things, I can learn it and make something new about my discoveries and make new better ideas, and I will try to develop it. We all know, that some people always judge to someone they really don't know. For some reason they always said that for an example: Steve Job's is gifted so he become successful and invent apple, Bill Gates is gifted because of his successful in making Microsoft. They are all wrong, because all people are gifted, in such a way where will they use their skills and capabilities. Some of these people have hidden talents among them, well we don't know he will become a successful technopreneur someday, we must not judge to the other people, because they earned respect because of their hard work in life and they don't give up and become successful. For me also, if I going to learn and explore each day, I will gain many experiences to overcome future problems in life. Obstacles that will prevent you from being a technopreneur in the near future. So I must take different path and accept each risk , and I must overcome it in a simple way with my knowledge and skills. And also, In order to achieve my goals, I must be a man with courage and have a complete confidence inside me when facing problems in order to develop and improve my capabilities further by experience. But in order to become a successful technopreneur, you must not work alone, because working alone will not let you become successful in life, it will become burden in your life. You must have friends beside you and specially your team, to help you and help them in order to achieve your goals. Because it is the main key to become successful in life and to become a successful technopreneur. Because friends and your team, is there to help you anytime with your problems to solve, and all of you have passion towards a single goal in life, to become rich, earn money, and build up your own company and become a successful technopreneur.

So what does it take to make it as a technopreneur? To Startup or not to Startup?

Most successful entrepreneurs would probably agree that making it an increasingly crowded start up scene, wherever you are, boils down to some basic principles common to every business. Firstly it is about having an idea. Then it is about testing that idea. Beyond that, and probably most importantly, it is about maintaining your belief in your project and being prepared to put in the hours, weeks, months, and years it usually takes to turn a dream into a viable reality. Stubbornness and determination are adjectives you hear attributed to the biggest names in entrepreneurship, time and time again.

Technopreneurship differs from general entrepreneurship in one critical sense, it involves high technology. Regular entrepreneurship is about finding a market opportunity and assembling the solutions, resources, and management processes to convert that opportunity into a business. Technopreneurship adds another dimension of complexity to this, however. Because, above and beyond these basics, the technopreneur works at the level of research and development of the technology itself. To pull it simply, the tech start up has to not only monetize the technology they work with, but ensure it works for the end customer.

"You've got to start with the customer experience and work back toward the technology - not the other way around."
-Steve Jobs, May 1997, World Wide Developers Conference

There are 7 skills to become a successful technopreneur in the near future:

A technology entrepreneur must possess some extraordinary qualities to succeed:

Visionary: Sees things other human beings don't see: opportunity. Thinks about how to make a new system that works, instead of griping about the system not working. Has a single minded focus on solving the problem he's chosen to tackle. Willing to explore multiple possibilities to get to an optimal solution.

Learner: An active learner who has a thirst for knowledge. Sets time aside to pick up more skills. Takes things apart, even breaks them, to understand concepts.

Hustler: Sells ideas and buys collaborators. Identifies lesson that comes with being a start up entrepreneur and moves on. Speaks with confidence, because he believes in what he's doing.

Systematic: Knows how to prioritize among the multitude of tasks to attend to. Has a method to the madness, a personal system that helps them get things done.
Passionate: Obsesses over ideas, both as grand plans and as minute details. Everything matters. Does things differently because of this passion.

Driven: Goes and changes things because he can. Driven by constant discontent with the status quo. Looking for better ways to do things and get better results.

Grounded: Seeks balance between pursuing insane targets and being emotionally grounded. Understands the need for a support system, especially among family and friends.

Most successful and effective technopreneurs...

Are not born, but made. People become successful in life because their life is full of hard work and dedication, and with enough experience they can achieve their long time goals in life.

Is most often not a one man team. He works with a team. As what I say above, being successful is not being alone in life, you must have friends and especially your very own team. To share problems with each other, and find solutions for the biggest problems. Working in a team is different from working alone. Because you and your team helps each other to achieve your same goals in life.

Is trained by a mentor. To become a successful in life. We must seek other's help and get some advices from them, because we can learn from them so that it can apply to our experience and build more something special. Also we must be inspired by someone who become successful like Steve Jobs.

Is a calculated risk taker. We must take different paths, and also we must become a risk taker, in every action we must risk, even we fail, but in the end, it will be worth it, because if we faced the problems, we can move on and be successful.

Shares the burden of responsibility to other team members. We must not keep our own problems on our own. Because we have friends and team members who can help us despite in any problem. Friends and team members can help you and find a solution out of it.

Understand the needs of the customers. We must also care the complaints and needs of our customers, because they are the one who buys your products and become rich. And also we must not argue with them.

Love what they do. We must appreciate our friends and team members efforts. And we must support them what they love, like they loved to work especially improving your team  plans and developments.

3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not?

It is very hard to decide if I want to take the same career path that Steve Jobs took. Because if you imagine the hard work and dedication of Steve Jobs to make his own company and making a PC (Personal Computer) which completely functional. And there are many obstacles to face before you become a technopreneur. I watched the movie "Pirates of the Silicon Valley" for the very first time. And it was the story of Apple and Microsoft. And the career of Steve Jobs is very difficult to follow but you can follow it by your own will. Because nowadays, successful technopreneurs is selling their new products. It is very easy to sell new products because of the fast and new technologies discovered each day. And it helps them to learn new experiences and ideas. We all know that Steve Jobs is very ambitious in life, even in his high school days. He always aim for high to become successful and pursue his goals in life to have a company in terms of creating something new, and to improve further and by the use of technology. Steve Jobs is very competitive in gaining fame and improving his career, especially his company Apple and his first Computer Macintosh. He start his business in a garage with his friends and families, and borrow money to start their business because they don't have any money to start it. Steve Jobs is very smart and productive in his own ways. And soon he becomes a great technopreneur in the whole world, and with his ideas and development, it contributed to the history of PC (Personal Computers) until now. He never give up even he fall from the top, because he believe that someday, he will become a successful man and be a great technopreneur. He have passion, hardwork, and knowledge to create better ideas. He uses these skills and capabilities step by step so that he can achieve his goals in life. Steve Jobs become an inspiration to all the youths today, as they want to gain knowledge to create and innovate something new in the future and become successful. I admire him also in such a way he create new ideas and technologies to be development in real world. Steve Jobs taking his passion in action, and not gone to waste.

But to answer the question, should I take the same career path that he took? I should yes and a no. Yes, in such a way that I want to follow his career that starts with a young age as me, and become competitive and talented to become successful. And in a way that he never give up, and never waste his ideas to nothing, but to make his ideas to come and be develop. because of his hard work and dedication in early age, and his passion to give his best. I am eager to learn and understand new concepts of technology. And to discover my own ideas to be develop in the near future, and become also a great technopreneruship. And I am interested to explore new ideas and opportunities and accept failures in life. I will do my best, as the other students like me with same interest. And I should say no, in such a way that I want to have my own career path in life with different ways and style of my own to become successul in life. I want to learn in my own journey to technopreneruship, I want to see my own kind of progress in life, which I want to take own. Face my career with different problems to overcome and hardships along the way. I want it in a simple way that all my hard works will be paid off. And soon in the future, with my own style and career path I will become a great technopreneur like Steve Jobs who become successful in his business with computers and technology.

As a student today, I must focus on my studies and work hard and improve my learnings and accept failures in life. Because I can learn in my failures, and also, while I'm still studying, I want to improve my ideas so that I can develop it in the near future and announce to the world my creation of new beginning, new technology. And I want to plan ahead of time while I'm still studying so that my ideas will be improve each day, and step by step, I will become a great entrepreneur and be known to the whole world what I contributed to the technology.

Some Life Lessons From Steve Jobs We Should Never Forget:

He loved what he did for his company, the people who worked there, their products and couldn’t have done anything else.
Sure he became a billionaire over time when he brought Apple back from the brink of bankruptcy, but I don’t think Steve could have done anything else. He wouldn’t have done anything else. Apple was his calling, even after he got fired from the company.  We all have bad jobs at one point or another in our lives. But the big question you have to ask yourself is: am I in the right job for me? Have I found the right company? Is this the right set of people I want to be with? Will this lead to fulfilling work and thus a fulfilling career? If yes, great. If no, change things quick. Life doesn’t go on forever (as we also saw from Steve). Get on your right path now.

Don’t tolerate bozos around you.
Throughout his life, Steve had a great “bozo” detector. He did a super job of not letting bozos proliferate at his companies. He weeded them out if they were there until they weren’t.  You’ll never be perfect at it and neither was Steve but the key thing is that bozos sap energy from you and the best people in the company working with you. Bozos make bozo decisions. Bozos hire worse bozos beneath them. Stamp them out.  Don’t let them take root around you.

You can’t do it all yourself.
Between Steve Jobs’ first stint at Apple and his last, he became a much better manager of people.  He still could tear the hide off someone if he didn’t think they did their job, but his outbursts were far fewer and far less hostile later in life than before. He learned you can’t do it all yourself in your career at least not if you want to see your work succeed on a massive scale.  You need people.  They must be talented. They must be inspired. They must be held accountable. They must be given the opportunity to succeed and fail on their own and not just be a puppet for your will.  In short, you have to learn to be a great leader and manager of people if you want to see your great ideas and hard work truly have a huge impact on the world.

If you want to sell an idea, product or service, put yourself in the other person’s shoes.
If you had to pick one thing that was special about Steve and Apple compared to all the companies that came before it, you’d have to say it was that Apple more than any other company of our time – was always the best at dreaming up a new product that we never could have imagined beforehand but seemed so natural to us the first time we held it.  That’s empathy. That’s seeing the world not as it is but as it should be.  It’s started from that first touch the user has with a product and says “ahh” to the beginning and building what is needed which may look nothing like what exists today.

You don’t beat the competition at their game. You redefine the game.
How did Apple go from being 3 months away from being shut down to introducing the iPhone 10 years later?  They didn’t play the computer game the way everyone said they needed to play it.  Napster was created and made music essentially free. Apple created the next “Walkman” in the iPod which forced users to pay for music.  Dell was the dominant PC player during much of that time, selling bland looking computers with no middle man to keep costs down.  Apple created a bunch of Apple stores.  This was as radical as if Google decided today that they were going to build a bunch of Google stores.  The leading smart phones before the iPhone all had physical keyboards like the BlackBerry, Palm Treo, Good technology, and the first versions of Google’s Android.  Apple came up with something utterly different.

Don’t mess around with your health.
I once was chatting with someone about the lessons Steve Jobs’ life could teach us. I ran through a list of business ideas. He stopped me in said: “you’re forgetting the most important lesson from his life: don’t mess around with your health, especially when doctors give you serious advice.”  And he was right. It’s great to celebrate Steve’s life and learn from it now but, the fact is, he should still be here.  And he probably would still be here if he had aggressively treated his cancer, like his doctors wanted, when they first found it. Instead, Steve messed around with a bunch of naturopathic solutions that weren’t effective.  When he finally decided to take his doctors’ original advice, too much time had passed to save him.
